Why does not positive thinking for me?
Paradox of Positive ThinkingPositive Thinking is often seen as an antidote to fear and anxiety. Taken on face value, it might be comforting to believe that positive thinking can reduce fear and anxiety, but it actually just masks the symptoms. The paradox principle is about ac-knowledging that we are beyond either positive or negative thinking. Who we are, is a perfect Being, and negative thinking is just a learned behavior. Since negative behavior is all learned, there isn’t anything to either hide or reveal, all that needs to be done is to show up as a perfect being. Our posi-tive affirmations are simply declaring who we al-ready are, whereas the act of masking negative thinking with positive thoughts is to hide who we think we are.We need to first analyze all our negative thoughts and see how they arise in survival and how all of who we are is a witness to survival. Once we see that it is all about survival, we can be re-sponsible for our negative thoughts and create a new way of being. Positive affirmations are a lot more powerful once we understand that negative thinking is just an illusion of who we really are — a perfect being, witnessing survival. Practice being aware of the negative thoughts as just thoughts, be-fore affirming positive thoughts. If you can medi-tate and reach another level of thought, this power-ful state is the place to practice positive affirma-tions.
